The Motte
One swallow does not make a summer - but a moth does.
(Kai Eckoldt, 2009-07-09) A fluttering noise reaches my ear. A moth strayed in my lamp. I am watching its flickering shadow. It´s summer. As for me, this is one out of many little details of which my summer memories are made of. I asked myself if it could be possible to use the main behavior of this detail to trigger the summer-feeling in wintertime. That’s why I designed an artificial moth, built on a solarbotics assembly kit. A solar cell generates a pulse at irregular intervals. The actuated motor imitates the moth´s flapping. Now I have to wait for the winter to come to verify the hypothesis of my concept.....
